Healthy Baby Recipes

Great healthy snack and morning sickness remedie.

Banana Oatmeal Cookies makes 20 cookies 3 very ripe bananas 1/3 cup oil (canola, grapeseed...) 2 cups oatmeal vanilla and cinnamon Optional: add raisins, carob or chocolate chips, walnuts etc...

Mash the bananas in a bowl with a fork. Add the oil and blend well. Add the oatmeal, vanilla and cinnamon and mix together. I like to make the cookies more exciting by adding raisins, walnuts and carob chips, but you may add any other dried fruit, nuts or chocolate chips if you like. Bake in a 350 F oven for 15-20 minutes. You'll never know there is no sugar in these, and they have a tendency to gently settle quesy pregnant tummies too.

The potassium in the bananas may help calf cramps, the complex oat carbohydrates may help morning sickness, the cinnamon will aid in carbohydrate absorption, walnuts are full of good omega fatty acids for mood stabilization and baby's brain development, the chocolate chips makes for a happier mom which equals a happier baby and contain many antioxidants as does the raisins. all together the roughage can help constipation too.

Gourmet Morning Oatmeal

for one person, 1/2 cup quick cooking (not instant) oatmeal 1-2 tbsp raisins (dried blueberries, cranberries etc...) 1 Cup Soy/ or Almond milk, Vanilla essence Cinnamon 1 tsp DHA omega fatty acid oil, and 1 egg (optional). Blueberries or any fresh fruit on top with a little extra soymilk.

Place oatmeal, fruit and soymilk in a pot and slowly bring to a boil and simmer until cooked. Add vanilla, cinnamon, DHA and an egg for added nutrition and substance. Pour into a cereal bowl. If you absolutely must, drizzle a little honey, but this is very sweet by itself. Add berries or sliced fruit on top. This break fast will sustain you and help grow your baby's brain cells.
